| Cargill agrees to purchase assets of Tennessee-based Olympic Metals, Inc. Minneapolis, MN - Cargill, a leading global trader, processor and distributor of iron and steel, has agreed to purchase the assets of Olympic Metals in Loudon, Tenn, through its Steel Service Center business. Officials expect to close within the next 30 days. Terms were not disclosed. Olympic is a single location steel service center that offers stretcher-leveled cut-to- length sheets, blanking and coil slitting capabilities. The plant is located in eastern Tennessee about 30 miles southwest of Knoxville. "This facility will allow us to expand our market area in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern states," said Mike Taylor, president of Cargill's Steel Service Centers. "It allows us to build on our existing strength in cut-to-length steel, in addition to adding a new technology to our portfolio. This will enable us to better provide solutions for our customers. This is a perfect strategic fit for us." Cargill currently operates six flat rolled steel service centers with over 225 employees, focusing on hot rolled band, pickled and oiled, cold rolled and tin mill products. | Cargill announces MMX offtake agreement Rio de Janeiro , - MMX, a company which operates exclusively in Brazil and will consist of integrated mining, mineral processing, production and logistics operations for iron ore and intermediate products for the steel industry, with a goal of establishing a leading position in the long-term in Brazil and internationally, announces to the market that on January 5th, 2007, MMX Metálicos Brasil Ltda., a subsidiary of MMX, and Cargill, Incorporated entered into a long-term supply agreement for MMX's production of pig iron from the MMX Corumbá System, with firm take and delivery obligations. With the commitment to purchase the settled volume from August 2007, Cargill will have exclusive rights to market MMX Metálicos's pig iron acquired production from MMX Corumbá System worldwide with the exception of South America, using its global marketing, ocean transportation, and logistic network capabilities. The results were released by Jacobsen and Associates, and independent firm that gathers thousands of surveys from steel consumers and their evaluation of 29 steel producers.
